What is the IDF 2019 National Conference?

The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) National Conference is our preeminent event held biennially, and is a platform for all facets of the primary immunodeficiency (PI) community. From physicians to nurses to specialized life management experts, people with PI and families have an unsurpassed opportunity to network with those on the cutting edge of research and treatment. The IDF National Conference brings together individuals from all sectors of the PI community.

The conference features opportunities for learning, discussing and sharing for all ages. World-renowned immunologists are on hand to share their time and expertise. Families benefit from meeting other families and enjoy the festivities of social events, as well as learn from organizations and companies in the interactive Education Hall.

When and where is the IDF 2019 National Conference?

June 20-22, 2019, we will be in National Harbor outside of Washington, DC at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. The conference begins at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 20 with registration, and ends at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 22.

When can I register?

Registration for the IDF 2019 National Conference will open in early 2019. In the meantime, check out the event on Facebook to connect with others who are interested in attending! Be the first to know when registration opens by signing up for event alerts through your IDF My Account.

What sessions will be available?

There will be something for everyone! World-renowned healthcare professionals will share their time and expertise to help you better understand and manage your primary immunodeficiency disease (PI). Learn from life management professionals who will provide you with ideas you can incorporate into your daily life. Meet and talk with others from the PI community, and share your experiences throughout the weekend.

Who will be there?

Everyone! As the largest gathering for people living with PI in the world, there is always a great turnout. Individuals, families and friends living with PI, healthcare professionals and from organizations that provide services to the community will be in attendance. What will I learn?

Attendees learn about scientific advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of PI, and gain the skills needed to manage their healthcare. There are sessions for specific diagnoses, life management skills, treatment types and more. In 2017, we had 63 educational sessions, and plans are underway to have approximately similar amount of sessions in 2019.

What is the cost?

The registration fee includes access to all meals, sessions and special events. The group room rate allows IDF to offer hotel rooms at a reduced rate.

Hotel Room Cost*

$258.50 per night for single/double occupancy. Maximum capacity is four (4) adults per room. 

*When you register online, you will be asked to make your hotel room reservations. Reservations are available for the conference nights (Wednesday, June 19, 2019 through Saturday, June 22, 2019). Please note that your hotel room will be booked when you register for the conference; there is no need to make separate hotel reservations. Do not contact the hotel to book a room. 

Commuter Registration Fee (One Day Rate)

Youth Program Fee

$100 per child** for two days: Friday and Saturday. No onsite registration for youth program. The Youth Program is not available to commuters. 

**Attendees, healthcare professionals, government, industry representatives and exhibitors may enroll their child(ren) in the IDF Youth Program only if they are diagnosed with PI or have an immediate family member with PI. 

Will there be a program for children and teens?

Yes! IDF Youth Program is exclusively for children and teens diagnosed with PI or have an immediate family member with PI on Friday and Saturday. Fun, age-appropriate activities and educational sessions are planned for all ages: Childcare (6 months – 4 years), Kids Club (5 – 9 years), Tween Scene (10 – 12 years) and the Teen Program (13 – 18 years). This program fills up quickly. Therefore, onsite registration is not available for youth program. The Youth Program is also not available to commuters. The Youth Program is not included in the registration fee; it is an additional $100 per child for two days (Friday and Saturday).

Will there be assistance to cover fees?

There will be a limited number of accommodation grants available to cover the cost of hotel rooms. These grants are based on financial need and are provided on a first come, first served basis to individuals and families that have never attended an IDF National Conference. More information to come in early 2019.

How can I get updates on the IDF 2019 National Conference?

Use your IDF My Account! We can’t e-mail you about the conference unless you have an IDF My Account and are subscribed to “IDF Events.” If you do have an IDF My Account, log in, scroll down to “My E-mail Subscriptions” and subscribe to “IDF Events.” If you have not created an account yet, get started! You can also get updates and stay informed by using the IDF 2019 National Conference App! This app puts everything you need for the conference at your fingertips. Complete with a full schedule of sessions and events, speakers, listings, locations, maps, social media, an in-app game and so much more, it’s an integral piece of the conference that you can take with you everywhere. Available for download in March 2019!

Is there a dress code?

All sessions are casual attire. There are events, however, where we ask for festive attire, and anything zebra print is always welcome! Please note that all conference sessions will be held in hotel meeting rooms, which are air-conditioned and often chilly. So, it is highly recommended to bring along a light jacket or sweater to the session rooms.

What meals will be provided?

The registration fee covers breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, June 21 and breakfast and lunch on Saturday, June 22. Attendees are encouraged to make their own dinner plans for Thursday and Saturday nights. If you have dietary restrictions, we strongly encourage you to let us know when you register.

How do I get to the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center?

The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center is a 15-minute drive or water taxi ride from the heart of the nation’s capital, and it is conveniently located near area airports, including Reagan National Airport and Washington Dulles International.
