What is an IDF Forum?

One of the many important functions of the Immune Deficiency Foundation is presenting education programs throughout the country. To accomplish that function, IDF Forums offer invaluable information on comprehensive and varied topics and feature healthcare professionals who address the treatment and management of primary immunodeficiencies.

Since April of 2020, these events have been presented online (via Zoom) on a variety of topics. Built to be interactive in nature, each forum consists of a presentation from a physician or subject-matter expert, a time for questions and answers, and an opportunity to meet with event sponsors to gather additional information. In order to keep participants engaged, topics change frequently and the Forums are offered at various times of the day. Some are Lunch & Learns, some happen in the afternoon, and many are in the early evening hours. They typically last between 1-2 hours and provide a unique opportunity to connect and learn with others in a way that wouldn’t be possible at a location-based event.

Additionally, some of these forums have topics that are specific to certain diagnoses, health concerns, or treatment modalities. The ability to have these forums address more specialized topics provides opportunities for learning and growth for everyone, no matter where they live.

Feel free to email us with any questions. We hope you can join us for our next IDF Forum!

A Little History of IDF Educational Initiatives

Originally called Local Education Meetings, they were created and developed by IDF with the help of local volunteers and healthcare professionals, and designed for adults with PI, parents, caregivers, spouses, partners, and friends.

These one-day meetings were presented on a regional level throughout the year. Professionals shared their knowledge and volunteers from the area would share their experiences. These meetings gave a broad overview of issues for patients, which might include insurance reimbursement, therapy, or life management. These events provided an environment for patients and families to share ideas and form lifelong friendships.
