The continued need to protect the health of the immunocompromised

March 12, 2024

Despite the success of vaccines in reducing severe illness and declining numbers of infections in many areas, COVID-19 remains a threat, particularly to the nearly 10 million people in the U.S. who are immunocompromised. There is a critical need to ensure that vulnerable Americans avoid severe symptoms and the long-lasting impacts of COVID-19 and other transmittable illnesses.

This handout from Immunocompromised Collaborative accompanied a virtual Congressional briefing on March 13, 2023, on the continued need to protect the health of the immunocompromised by ensuring access to COVID-19 antivirals, making telehealth flexibilities permanent, and supporting public health department education and awareness initiatives.
